This year, the fifth World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (WRIEC) took place in Calgary, Canada, jointly organized by the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA), the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), and the European Group of Risk and Insurance Economists (EGRIE). The event brought together researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to advance global dialogue and research in risk and insurance economics.
We are proud that 9 researchers from our institute presented their work at this prestigious conference:
- Julia Braun presented her research paper on House Price Inflation, Home Ownership, and Intergenerational Wealth Inequality.
- Felix Feig was selected as one of five PhD students to present his research paper The Tension Between Efficiency and Fairness of Risk Classification at the Huebner Doctoral Colloquium.
- Marcel Freyschmidt presented his research paper on Tail Overweighting in Catastrophe Bond Pricing, which received the SCOR-EGRIE Young Economist Best Paper Award.
- Prof. Dr. Markus Huggenberger presented his research paper on Solving the Catastrophe Risk Premium Puzzle.
- Yang Liu presented her research paper on Implicit Insurance and Group Decision in Technology Adoption: Experiments with Ghanaian Smallholder Farmers.
- Prof. Dr. Despoina Makariou presented her research paper on Heterogeneous Market Timing: Evidence from the Catastrophe Bond Market.
- Dingchen Ning presented his research paper on Selection and Screening in Cyber Insurance Markets.
- Felix Maximilian Walthes presented his research papers on Living with Risk: The Role of Emotions and When Do I Have to Pay? Time Risk Aversion and Insurance Demand.
- Jakob Walter presented his research paper on The Cyber Risk Severity Premium.
The Congress provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing research, and strengthening our global academic network. We are excited about the promising future of our IVW team in risk and insurance research and look forward to continued success at future Annual Meetings.
