Addressing the critical issue of extreme cyber risks, Prof. Dr. Martin Eling, Mauro Elvedi, and Dr. Greg Falco have developed an innovative dynamic inoperability input-output model to analyze the economic impact of six significant cyber risk scenarios. Their approach integrates qualitative factors, which are often overlooked, providing a comprehensive framework for estimating potential losses ranging from $0.7 billion to $35 billion. This model represents a major advancement in the standardization and comparability of cyber risk assessments.

We are proud to announce that their research has been honored with the NAAJ Annual Prize for the Best Paper of 2023. Awarded by the North American Actuarial Journal (NAAJ), this prize recognizes exceptional research and its impact on the field.
