The I.VW-HSG is an innovative, entrepreneurially managed research, training and consulting institute of the University of St.Gallen. As an internationally renowned knowledge broker for financial services companies, we offer future-oriented and practice-oriented problem solutions. In addition, basic research is a central component of our activities. Our research focuses on risk and insurance management.

For the team of Prof. Dr. Hato Schmeiser we are looking for a new member in the focus area "Quantitative Insurance and Risk Management" with immediate effect or according to agreement.

Research Assistant / Doctoral Candidate

For the team of Prof. Dr. Alexander Braun in the focus "InsurTech & Digital Innovation", starting immediately or by arrangement, we are looking for a

Research Associate / Doctoral Candidate

We offer:

We expect:

  • University degree (Diploma/Master) in business administration, economics, industrial engineering, business mathematics or a related subject with above-average results; preferred areas of specialisation are insurance administration, bank administration/ financing, insurance economics and statistics.
  • very good MS-Office skills, knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistical software (e.g. R for Statistical Computing, SPSS, etc.) would be advantageous
  • Ability to think analytically, interest in scientific work and willingness to solve complex problems independently
  • strong team and communication skills
  • fluent German and English, written and spoken

The team bundles various questions on the future of risk management and the insurance industry. Current research focuses on insurance-linked securities (ILS), InsurTech, asset pricing and business model innovation in the insurance industry. In addition, the team covers various other topics in the fields of risk management and finance.
