Navigating Changing Risk Dynamics: In today’s interconnected world, the risk landscape is in flux, with climate and cyber threats increasing systemic risk and digitization, and ESG disclosure increasing intangible risk. This concise report, authored by thought leaders from the Geneva Association (Dr. Kai-Uwe Schanz, Pieralberto Treccani), I.VW-HSG (Prof. Dr. Alexander Braun, Prof. Dr. Martin Eling, Dr. Christoph Jänicke), and the ETH Risk Center (Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Jovanović, Dr. Hélène Schernberg), uses an innovative framework to examine emerging risks and their future insurability. The Geneva Association’s survey results highlight climate and cyber risks as significant hurdles. Both private and commercial customers are concerned about the potential cost and unavailability of insurance for these risks. Insurers are responding by expanding services beyond financial risk absorption, with more than 80% of respondents interested in risk prediction and prevention. With current usage levels of 30-50%, there is a compelling opportunity for insurers to diversify their offerings.
