Course Objectives

This course focuses on digitalization & AI in the insurance industry, in particular the digital transformation of companies in an increasingly competitive industry. The learning objectives are:

Target Audience

This course is designed for managers working in business or IT roles in insurance and financial companies, or in consulting roles for technology companies. They want to develop their digital skills and immerse themselves in the latest approaches and best practices in data & AI in the insurance industry. Participants can apply what they learn to one or more of their own digital projects. And by traveling to Barcelona, they will see for themselves how leading companies and start-ups are rethinking and implementing insurance.

Application requirements

Ideally, you should have a first degree, but participation “sur dossier” is also possible. You must be a professional or manager with at least 5 years of professional experience.

Program Structure

The program consists of 18 classroom days and is supplemented by selected 90-minute live online sessions in between modules that accompany the homework assignments and provide optimal preparation and follow-up to the classroom days. In addition, the digital learning platform and self-study of selected literature provide additional opportunities for in-depth study. In the final assignment, you will demonstrate how you have put what you have learned into practice. You will receive valuable feedback and coaching on your implementation. You can expect to spend 30-40 days overall on this course.

Professor Alexander Braun is the Academic Director of the programme CAS Digital Insurance & AI Transformation. He heads the Insurance Innovation Research Team at the Institute of Insurance Economics (I.VW-HSG) and his research focuses on business model innovation and new approaches to capital management. Professor Braun is heavily involved in executive education and is also the academic director of the Executive Master HSG Insurance & Financial Services.
